Discovery “LP” – Dudes from Vampire Weekend & Ra Ra Riot

You know Vampire Weekend? You know Ra Ra Riot? Well, one guy from each band has decided to make a new kind of sound called “Discovery” and it’s, deeeelightful. The two guys? Rostam Batmanglij, the keyboardist from Vampire Weekend, and Wes Miles, the front-man of Ra Ra Riot.

The album “LP” will arrive in the US on July 7th, so mark you calendars!

Listen to Killers – Day & Age

The Killers just released a new disc “Day & Age” and while it’s a bit more tame than the historical Killers, it’s really good! Ranging from their ability to produce a space-techno-rock song to full on horns & strings; this album is pretty rich, and just plain fun to listen to.

Do you know: Rosie Thomas

Do you know Rosie Thomas?

Good friends with Sufjan Stevens and Denison Witmer; Rosie Thomas has one of the most beautiful female voices I’ve heard. Very chill — sometimes depressed — and filled with raw lyrics, Rosie Thomas is one of the most underestimated artists I’ve heard.

Deas Vail – Think Mew + Mae

I’m sure bands hate it when the first thing you comment on is how amazing the lead vocalist’s voice is; but this is one damn good voice. Amazing falsetto. Anyhow, what’s a good voice without good music? Deas Vail have a great thing going for such a young band. They have only made one full-length album so far, entitled “All the Houses Look the Same” and just recently released an EP entitled “White Lights” …

Noisetrade – Share Faretrade Music For Free

Noisetrade was an initiative started by Derek Webb. It’s slogan is “Faretrade music” and I believe that it was started in conjunction with Webb’s new album, “The Ringing Bell.”

You may remember Derek giving away his album a few years ago and creating quite a splash. Well, you can now download new music by telling just three friends, then you have access to whatever album…

The Album Leaf – Beautiful Instrumental

“Rough warmth, that’s a good description” says Sigur Rós’ Sundlaugin studio (used to be a pool) Enginer, Jon Birgisson. A San Diego band, The Album Leaf got it’s name based on a Chopin piece–which makes sense as The Album Leaf consists mostly of James LaValle, a classically trained musician. LaValle has also been part of punk, metal, and progressive rock bands.

Hello. Forgive me for not updating in a few days,  my extra time has been taken up redesigning the blog. In the meantime, I thought I’d share with you what keeps me motivated. I have been listening to a lot of Explosions in the Sky and Amiina; but I thought I’d share this.

Listen to Coldplay – Viva La Vida Full Album

Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends For all you Coldplay haters, eat it. Their new disc, “Viva La Vida and Death to All His Friends” just released today. This album is really, really good. Heads and shoulders above X&Y. I’m honestly not a Coldplay…

Coldplay Viva la Vida and Lost – Fantistico!

Coldplay Viva La Vida

Viva La Vida:

[audio:vivalavida.mp3]

So, the aforementioned iTunes commercial inspired me to buy the new Coldplay single Viva La Vida.

It’s a bit new for Coldplay…I mean when have we heard a string’s based song from them? And church bells? But, it’s not pretentious, it’s not annoying, it’s just…
