Imogen had an unrecorded vocal section she recorded for a TV show that shall go unnamed (because I don’t know what it was). Rather than throwing the song away, she uploaded all the vocal tracks, the click track, the works, and asked people to remix it. There’s an entire page of remixes from fans. Pretty rad!

Displaying some versatility, you can also easily share tracks…wherever your travels may take you. I also am enjoying the interface. Oh yes, the interface. And, the profile is very extensive. If I had time in my life for another profile, I would probably tinker with this one as it looks like you can do some heavy customization with the types of music it plays for you.

You may remember Derek giving away his album a few years ago and creating quite a splash. Well, you can now download new music by telling just three friends, then you have access to whatever album you’d like.

imeem also makes it incredibly easy to buy the music straight from the Amazon mp3 music store. Awesome. I really like their video player as well. It has a cool mashup feature when it’s not playing, and if you click on “info” it gives you the artist name, album, and song–just like old fashioned music videos.

I’ve been playing around with it’s “Discover” feature as well; but I’m not deep enough into it to say yay or nay. Regardless, imeem is a great way to check out bands you know, stream their music, watch their videos and share it with friends.

“Daily Deals” is updated daily and offers a popular album at a significantly discounted price, while “Friday Five” offers five albums for $5 every Friday and through the weekend. In celebration of Coldplay’s new album, this week’s “Daily Deals” will be their preceding albums. “X&Y” which was availalbe Tuesday for $1.99, “A Rush of Blood to the Head” will be available on Wednesday for $1.99, Parachutes” will be available on Thursday for $1.99 and “Brothers and Sisters” will be offered on Friday for 99 cents.

And one other thing, you can get their mp3 updates via Twitter. Awesome.

I added a new section to the blog. Because I suck at designing, it is pretty lame. But, the concept is out of this world amazing. You’ll notice at the top it says, “Contribute.” I’d love for people to head to that area and just drop a comment with what bands we should know, what you’re listening to, what you hate, what you’d like to hear more of. Whatever.

The more I can move this blog away from me just yelling at you, to you guys helping each other find good music, the better.

• When you play music through iTunes, Last.FM automatically recognizes that and uploads it to your profile. So, that little widget you see on the right side of my blog is what I’ve been listening to.
• Also, you can connect with friends and see what they’ve been listening to as well as check out their playlists and music they’ve marked as “love it.” It’s a sweet way to catch new music. And because of the iTunes/iPod integration, your friends don’t have to do any additional work. You can just see what they’ve been listening to, and then listen.
• It has small desktop application so you can just open that like a radio player and play through it as opposed to opening your browser.
• Above all, for the most part I’ve been really happy with the music it’s played for me. You basically just type in an artist, and it starts playing similar music.

Because like everything Apple makes, it’s too damn proprietary. I can’t share my music with my friends. I can’t put music on my website to be streamed. I love sharing music. Not stolen, streamed. Not stolen, shared. Eat it, Apple.
