My Favorites of 2008

Everyone’s making a 2008 favorites list it seems. I strongly desire to be liked by people I don’t know on the internet, so I guess I should too. I hate ranking music though…I hate it…why am I even doing this? You know what, screw it. I’m not numbering anything, I’m just listing them. Maybe I won’t be prom king, but I feel good.

My list is slightly different than…

Joe Satriani vs. Coldplay or Guitar vs. Piano

If I put these two into a vicious cock-fight cage, Chris Martin would clearly get his ass beat by Joe Satriani. There is no doubt in my mind he would be begging for Gwyneth. I mean look at that photo–Satriani could crush him just by standing there long enough. That being said, however, these Satriani and Coldplay aren’t in a fist fight…it’s much worse.

More Christmas! 25 Free Mp3′s

I just wrote a post called 11 Great Indie Music Tunes, and right on the heals of that a friend found a gold mine. A literal, gold mine. Amazon MP3 continues to amaze me. Thanks to Owen, I just saw Amazon’s 25 days of free Christmas music.

Neko Case – Middle Cyclone – Making of Video

Neko Case of The New Pornographers has a new album coming out this spring entitled “Middle Cyclone.” It’s slated to arrive on March 3, 2009. If you don’t know it, let me know and I’ll blog it. If you don’t own it, buy it from Amazon for $6.99 or but it here from my Amazon powered music store.

11 Great Indie Christmas Tunes

Well, it’s almost Christmas! What would Christmas be without great music? And what would indie music be without whining depression infiltrating the Christmas spirit? This Christmas, I set out to collect some good Christmas tracks that don’t make me wanna drive off a bridge (Clarence! I want my life back!), and here they are…

Listen to Killers – Day & Age

The Killers just released a new disc “Day & Age” and while it’s a bit more tame than the historical Killers, it’s really good! Ranging from their ability to produce a space-techno-rock song to full on horns & strings; this album is pretty rich, and just plain fun to listen to.
