Keane has a new album coming out called “Perfect Symmetry” and I’ve only heard 30 seconds of one track, and it sounded…well, not good. I think I’m also being negatively influenced by the horrible 80′s MySpace design–and the release of their album artwork. None of which I like (I happened to mostly hate 80′s art of any kind); but that’s ok…because I’m not in the band.
Regardless, Keane is a band I like and can’t wait for the new disc to arrive on October 13th.
Hopefully they’ll rock the tour this year and they’ve overcome some tough issues (they had to cancel the 2006 tour) and maybe swing by DC in their travels.
In their own words,
The record is much more about love than anything else
Love. Great. Just to reiterate: 80′s artwork, the BBC’s descriptor of “80′s pop,” and the fact that,
“The album makes a move away from their trademark power piano, and towards a more synth-led sound…There’s a more liberated feel to the offbeat electronic pop indulgence, the reverberating vocals, the handclaps, the saxophone and, not least, the musical saw…”
I’m pretty sure I’m going to hate this album. Love? 80′s? Saxaphones? Synth’s? Handclaps?
I hope to be proven wrong.
Check out their MySpace page for a blurb of their new track, “Spirraling.”
