Imogen Heap’s New Single Not Now But Soon

Imogen Heap is one of my favorite artists in years. My wife and were lucky enough to see her at the 9:30 Club in DC this past year, and she was amazing.

She just put out a new song for the TV show Heroes entitled “Not Now But Soon.” I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed. She’s one of those artists that can’t do much wrong in my eyes (we all have a few of those); but she comes close with this track. I like it, it’s just not as solid as her other stuff. It feels a bit disconnected and doesn’t quite have the nod-your-head-beat. It’s still a good song and the more I listen to it the more I like it; but on first listen, I give it a ‘decent’ rating.

I love that she’s using the soft trumpet in this song–reminiscent of Frou Frou; but I have to say the end of the song isn’t as good as the first part–which is rare for her.

This isn’t the first time she’s put out a single for a specific show. She recorded a song entitled “Can’t Take it In” for the first Chronicles of Narnia movie which I really like.

One last thing; she’s also recording some stuff for the new Narnia Movie Prince Caspian. I heard a snippet of it and it sounded awesome; but I guess producers pulled the plug on the song because it was too dark.

Imogen, I’m sorry. I love you. I can’t wait for the new album.
