I recently discovered these guys: Balun. So far, I think I’m digging it. I’m always down for finding new instrumental driven bands (Ratatat, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky), and especially electronic based music. They do sing on some songs…and I don’t really like those tracks as much. If done well, this type of music can be the most fascinating music to listen…

My coworker Trace recently passed along the song Rise by Robbie Seay Band. He passed it along framing it as a song with hopeful lyrics that never got cheesy.
The song starts with a simple riff that shapes the melody of the entire…
Awhile ago MIA was interviewed on Philadelphia’s World Cafe and she also performed live (I haven’t actually heard it yet). Philadelphia’s World Cafe will be rebroadcasting that show on March 28. Check it out here.…
Coldplay has a new disc arriving soon. It’s called Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Chris Martin, who is self-admittetly bad at naming things, recently changed the original title which was set to be Viva la Vida because I guess people really hated it. The album is slated to arrive June 18, 2008. Can’t wait.
No way. How did I miss these guys?! I’m way late in the game; but I love it.
My coworker Steph just told me about a band that I’m absolutely stoked about: Mew. These guys are from Denmark and rock it. So, there music wasn’t released in the US until much later; but the CD I just purchased (not on iTunes) is…
So Death Cab released their first single off their new album, Narrow Stairs. It’s called I Will Possess Your Heart and it’s really, really good. It’s unlike anything off of Plans and much more similar to Photo Album. It’s dark, and it’s an instrumental for the first three minutes or so, then the singing begins…
Imogen Heap is one of my favorite artists in years. My wife and were lucky enough to see her at the 9:30 Club in DC this past year, and she was amazing.
She just put out a new song for the TV show Heroes entitled “Not Now But Soon.” I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed. She’s one of those…
Sam is a good friend of mine, and he knows music. Every now and again he gets really pissed off at something and he turns into Sambo. I wonder what Sambo listens to?
Anyhow, not-Sambo-Sam has been listening to The National – Boxer, and I am stoked he told me about them. I realize they’ve been…
Feist, I love you. But honestly, did you have to do what every other artist does who becomes remotely famous: get featured in a hip-hop song? Even if it is the great and mighty Kanye West, in my opinion this was just not a good choice for you. You should have…
Death Cab For Cutie has a new record slated to arrive in May 2008 entitled “Narrow Stairs” They have a short little video on their website that’s a fun watch.
The artwork is interesting, it is a big shift from their last album, “Plans” and seems to match more of the “Photo Album” and “Something About Airplanes” feel…
