Discovery “LP” – Dudes from Vampire Weekend & Ra Ra Riot

You know Vampire Weekend? You know Ra Ra Riot? Well, one guy from each band has decided to make a new kind of sound called "Discovery" and it's, deeeelightful. The two guys? Rostam Batmanglij, the keyboardist from Vampire Weekend, and Wes Miles, the front-man of Ra Ra Riot. The album "LP" will arrive in the US on July 7th, so mark you calendars! There are strong elements of both bands…

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It’s Blitz! = Best of 2009

June 6, 2009
My friend Chris introduced me to Yeah Yeah Yeahs the other day, and damn are they good! About two weeks ago I picked up their new album It's Blitz and I haven't taken it out yet. It's non-stop awesomeness. Every song is spectacular and has strong replay-ability. Just listen to it. You'll love it. The whole album is here for your betterment. Check out their video for Zero, and below… Continue Reading

Jars of Clay’s The Long Fall Back to Earth is Amazing (Yes, You Read That Correctly…)

May 25, 2009
I know Jars of Clay has had a loyal following since the 90's; but I was not one of those people. After their first album, I fell (hard) off their band wagon. However, with their new album The Long Fall Back to Earth those of us with a broken tailbone might be ready to once again gather ourselves up, and rejoin the JarsĀ  fan club. The new album truly is really… Continue Reading
New Paper Route – Absence

New Paper Route – Absence

May 16, 2009
Paper Route just released their first full length album, Absence, and it's excellent. Be sure to listen to the whole album! With a blend of midi's, synths, drum machines, multiple guitars, and huge drums, this is one of the most unique albums I've heard this year. I recently saw them with Copeland at the Rock 'n Continue Reading

Future of Forrestry New Album Series – Part 1: Traveler

April 27, 2009
Future of Forestry has not one new album, but four new albums coming soon. The first? Travel. Wait, it gets better: you can download the new song, Traveler's Song, for free! Previously named "Something Like Silas", the band was signed and decided to rebirth under the name "Future of Forestry" after… Continue Reading

Listen to Metric – Fantasies – A Broken Social Scene-er

April 26, 2009
Fantasies is Metric's fourth studio album, and it's four times awesomer than most everything else 2009 has heard. You may have heard lead singer and songwriter Emily Haines' voice before as she has been featured on Stars' albums, and (like many other amazing artists) is part of the Broken Social Scene. Fantasies has a very interesting story behind… Continue Reading

Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilion – Listen to the Whole Album

April 19, 2009
Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion is easily one of 2009's best, and you can listen to the whole thing right here! Animal Collective has been around for years, and they have a cult-like following who would probably secede from the union to live in an Animal Collective commune if they could (which would be bad news for us, because they're from Baltimore, MD)… Continue Reading
New Death Cab For Cutie EP – Open Door

New Death Cab For Cutie EP – Open Door

April 12, 2009
Death Cab for Cutie has a new EP our called Open Door and it's solid - but not awesome. The Open Door EP comes not long after their most recent full length, Narrow Stairs. Narrow Stairs was a bit of a return to their roots. If you were Plans fan you probably disliked Narrow Stairs; if you were a Photo Album fan you… Continue Reading
Thirteen Senses

Thirteen Senses

April 9, 2009
Thirteen Senses' lead vocalist, Will South, might remind you of Mew's lead singer (but, not quite as awesome). This piano driven British band with a clean guitar supplementing the tunes is fairly melodic and worth a listen, but you may found yourself 'in like' but not quite in love. Listen to a few tracks, and you be the judge. Thirteen Senses has been picking up steam… Continue Reading
